A small but sincere crowd braved tonight’s chilly evening to witness Lenin get lit, so to speak.
Fremont’s own Santa Claus handed out tangerines to kids of all ages. Royal Grinders provided hot chocolate for little ones, while Tully’s had a coffee tent set up for adults.
It was a brisk evening but this four-legged friend was dressed for the occasion.
The Fremont Philharmonic kept things lively with Russian circus music.
Funnyman Pat Cashman emceed the festivities. He cracked that the real Lenin “would’ve hated an event like this”, which was subsequently met with cheers.
The flip of a switch - and help from a few little elves - turned on the lights designed by local home builders Logan’s Hammer. Let the season begin!

I agree!!! Nothing to celebrate Lenin statue in Seattle. We should be ashamed to have his statue in our state, in our city.

Isn't there a saying about those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it? Nah, I must be confused as I am just a retarded Seattle liberal. Let's just continue to honor the great Lenin with hats and burritos! He wrote that Imagine song, right?

I don't think it's considered honoring him if they put burritos and lighted hats on him.
And he's been there for how many years? Let's us liberals find something new to complain about.
