The Christmas Ships Are Coming To Town

At some point on December 1st, you’re going to be walking around Fremont and suddenly you’ll hear it. It sounds like a chorus off the distance somewhere. But where? Is it all happening in your head?

Not quite. It’s the The Argosy Christmas Ship™ festival.

Each night, through December 23rd, 2011 the Argosy Christmas Ship™ sails to different Puget Sound waterfront communities, over 45 in total. Choirs onboard sing 20-minute performances to these communities, all broadcast via state-of-the-art speaker system.

Between 8:20 and 8:40 pm on Thursday, December 1st, the ship will end it’s opening night by pulling up alongside Gas Works Park and letting the Con Brio Women’s Choir do their thing.

The Ship returns to Gas Works for the Parade Finale on Friday, December 23rd.  The Seattle Girls’ Choir’s Prima Voci will sing from 9:45 – 10:05 pm.

You can find out more information on how to be aboard the ship here. Or you can head down to Gas Works and enjoy the music from there. And if you own your own boat and want to get involved, throw some lights up the mast and join the floating parade.

Check out this video of last year’s finale performance:
