Update 4, 9/1: Here’s a large image of the flyer so you can print it out, courtesy of Chris. If anyone is able to create an even bigger version, please send our way and I’ll post.
Update 3, 8/31: KING5 did a news story on Jeff last night…
“His wife says there were no signs of foul play in Johnson’s car, and no activity with his bank accounts. She also says his cell phone wasn’t on him when he disappeared. “
Update 2: Jeff’s wife left a comment with an update on the car in the park.
He has not visited the park to my knowledge very often if ever. He is also not disabled etc. We think the truck was dumped there, but are not sure whether it was Fri, Sat or Sun am. The truck was found by seattle police Sun @10:00 am. Also not sure whrn gates are open and closed each day and if that happens on a regular basis. Any info about the park in that regard would be helpful. Thanks for your concern
Update 1:According to commenter mb, Jeff’s truck was found in Carkeek Park (950 NW Carkeek Park Rd) on Sunday 8/28 but Jeff is still missing.
Original: PCC employee Jeff Johnson apparently left home to go to work on 8/26 and never made it. Jeff almost always works the early shift and opens up the store. Friends and family have begun posting flyers all over town hoping someone might know where Jeff is and where he’s been since then:

Leo writes in with some details about Jeff
At 6′ 2″, 200 pounds,a walrus mustache, and friendly as the day is long, Jeff is hard to miss. The flyer has details about his truck including the license plate number. I think it said he was in his fifties. He usually parks his white pickup in the Fremont neighborhood while working at the store. He has worked for PCC for quite a while. Anyone having info can contact Fremont PCC or other number on the flyer. Everyone hopes he is okay.
We’ll keep you updated, let us know if you hear any developments as well.

Does anyone know what area in the Fremont neighborhood his truck is usually parked in? What neighborhood does he commute in from?
I’ll keep an eye out for anything. More info might be helpful though.

What else can we do? Has someone forwarded this post to the PI or Times to get more city-wide coverage? Anything else we can do to find Jeff?
6 Jeff's Wife // Aug 30, 2011 at 11:52 am
Someone has forwarded this post to 2 television
stations . PCC Natural Markets has also been working on media coverage but as of today if you would be willing to forward this to either the times or PI ,that would be great. I am working on putting something in another paper with which I have a contact. The big question that remains is whether the truck was dumped there or not and the parks service is working on that.
Also if anyone has contacts at the local police stations between Mill Creek/Martha Lake and Fremont perhaps you could forward this information to
them if they have a missing persons dept or something of that nature . The fremont neighborhood had been searched and flyers put everrywhere.
On Sunday the 28th about 15 people from PCC and otherwise ,walked the park looking for him there. I not sure if he is there, but if you happen to be at the park and would be aware of his image from the picture and could look around that could not hurt.
Thank you for your offer of help. Any thing you can do would be helpful at this point

I did contact the Times & PI. And when I stopped by PCC after work today, there was a TV station there. Don’t know which one, tho. You & Jeff are in our thoughts.

I wish there was more coverage about this, so more people would be on the lookout for Jeff. I shop at that PCC, and he is a very familiar face. He’s always been notably nice.

Wish I was in town with my search dog I could search the park.

We are all praying for Jeff’s safe return and are ready, willing and able to come up and search if another search is conducted, or be part of a candlelight vigil at the park or at PCC…of course to do anything we can to help. I know personally the power of prayer and have my prayer warriors on it, but still feel helpless and wish to do more. Love to Jeff and all the family!

P.S. If another search is conducted perhaps we could enlist the aid of the local search and rescue volunteers that go out…I think the Seattle Mountaineers may be in touch with those folks.

I live right by one of the trails into Carkeek and will absolutely keep my eyes open and alert my housemates. I also would recommend that someone post fliers in my neighborhood — I haven’t seen any on this side of the park. I live on the dead-end block of Mary Avenue (north of 100th), and it would be really helpful to put some fliers up along this street, as well as around Blue Ridge and along 14th (north of 100th). Many people in this neighborhood walk the park and neighborhood every day.

My heart goes out to Jeff’s loved ones. I am hoping and praying that he is found safe soon. I’ve seen and spoken to Jeff many times at PCC, so this really hits home. Will be forwarding this on. If someone has a PDF of the flier, I will be happy to print and post in other parts of town.

Hey Sean, would it be possible to post a .pdf version of the flyer here so people can print and post in their neighborhood if so inclined?
16 Chris W. // Aug 31, 2011 at 1:16 pm
Joe & all, I tried to make a pdf version y’all could use until Sean gets a chance to take a shot at it. It didn’t exactly work, but may give you a chance to ’save as’ a jpg. Go here: http://felsputzer.wordpress.com/2011/08/31/pcc-employee-missing/ and select the hyperlink in the word “flyer”.

Our prayers are with you Sharon and hope that Jeff is found safe really soon. If there is anything we can do contact Lisa, she has our phone number.

Why do they think his truck was dumped there?
19 anon // Sep 1, 2011 at 5:40 pm
Just, umm… So you know… I read at http://www.king5.com/news/local/PCC-Jeff-Johnson-search-128900053.html that Jeff’s coworkers found a body in Carkeek Park, and it is awaiting identification. See pasted web address for more information.

Sorry, I see you’ve already posted the update to the story.
I… I feel some consolation in believing that this was Jeff’s own choice, and not a crime against him.

Sharon, my deepest condolences to you. Jeff was a gracious man. There was not once in two years at PCC that he walked by be without a warm hello. We both have dogs named Murphy, and would share dog stories. I will miss him very much. I offer prayers of comfort and peace to his family and friends.

Jeff was a familiar face each morning on my trip through the store. He never failed to say hello and ask me if I needed anything.
I wish I could’ve helped him out or leant him an ear or something. I breaks my heart to know that he was in so much pain those around him (including me ) never had a chance to help.
