Brutal Beating Outside Fremont Bar Last Week

By Sean Keeley · December 27th, 2010 · 11 Comments

Last week, a fight outside Fremont bar 9 Million in Unmarked Bills left one man with multiple injuries including a fractured jaw and head trauma.

A 26 year-old man wound up at the Kirkland hospital intensive care unit after a brutal beating outside 9 Million in Unmarked Bills on 3400 block of Fremont Place N.

According to a police report, the victim’s brother contacted police on Friday, Dec. 18, after the victim was admitted to Overlake Hospital with a fractured jaw and injuries to his neck, shoulder, and face.

The man told police the victim had been at the Fremont bar earlier that night where he was “beaten, hit in the head multiple times, and left for dead on the sidewalk outside the bar.”

The victim was taken to Swedish Hospital, treated for his injuries and released several hours later. The man later lost consciousness and was taken to another hospital and placed on a ventilator. At the time of the report, he was still in the hospital in serious condition.

The victim hasn’t been able to tell police much given his condition though he apparently did claimed that one of the attackers said he was a University of Washington football player.

“The victim hasn’t been able to tell police much given his condition though he apparently did claimed that one of the attackers said he was a University of Washington football player.”

This sentence is constructed poorly enough that the meaning is lost. As it reads, it appears that the victim claimed that one of the attackers had said that the victim was a University of Washington football player. So was he beaten because the attacker thought he was a football player? Is he?

Apologies RJ, though I think you got the gist of what I was trying to say. One of the attackers supposedly claimed to be a UDub football player.

I’ll explain it further on my new blog GrammarAndSentanceStructureErrorsIMadeOnFremontUniverse.com, starting soon. Tons of content going there…

    @RJ: really?

@Sean: Nice! And please do follow up on this story. It seems like a bit of big deal, but has only been reported in a couple of small postings around town.

Sorry, I was really interested. I usually don’t comment on that sort of thing unless the meaning is unclear. Sorry if it seems obvious to everyone else.

Oh, and I just reread my comment. Man I sounded like a dick. Sorry about that too.

Any idea what time of night/morning it was?

It’s all good, RJ. At least I know you’re intently reading…

It is highly unlikely that an assailant was an active member of the UW football team. The entire football team has been in San Diego for the past 4 days practicing for the Holiday Bowl.

    Maybe he meant WSU…

@spuddybuddy - Nice try Columbo, but the attacks took place a week ago on the 18th.

Husky football players are immune from prosecution, so any further action is unlikely.

    Was Jeremy Stevens in town?
