Residents with sharp observation skills have noticed a few liquor license application notices in empty windows, signaling a rise in new businesses — or beer/wine additions to existing businesses — in Fremont.
Here are some we found through the Washington State Liquor Control Board’s online page of new statewide liquor license applications (so they’re pending approval):
- Seattle Artisan Burgers looks like it’s going to take over the former home of Urban Weeds at 4302 Fremont Ave. N. They applied for a beer/wine license for the restaurant on July 20.
- Across the street from Nectar Lounge, a restaurant lounge called Revel — under The Fremont Restaurant Project, LLC — has applied for hard liquor, beer and wine at 401 N. 36th St. as of August 12.
- And at Nana’s Soup House, 225 N. 36th S., they’re hoping to add beer and wine to the menu to add more happy to their happy hour specials.

Why no dive bars applying for licenses? Supposedly there’s a lot of demand for that in Fremont.

Dive bars are grown over decades, not built from scratch.

I also think there is a liquor distillery going in along the ship canal - where the scooter repair shop used to be.

I’ve heard this phrase used and I think it’s correct.
“In a recession hem lines get shorter and dancing gets wilder.”

…and if we’re really lucky, Artisan Burgers will help put this branch of Herfy’s up here out of business.

Oh, thank god, another booze lounge in Fremont. Aside to Dan: word.

I love having easy access to all of these licensed establishments…with the possible exception of Friday and Saturday between 9pm and 3am.

What great news — those of us who live close to the clubs on 36th can now look forward to picking up even more cigarette butts, beer and energy-drink cans, tequila bottles and hot-dog wrappers on Saturday and Sunday mornings!
When I bought a home a couple of blocks off 36th, I was expecting noise, including drunks who talk to each other at 100 decibels. But I didn’t expect I’d have to pick up their shit, too.
