The first day of spring is upon us and nature is already in bloom, including weeds and invasive plants. Friends of Fremont Peak Park have planned a work party for tomorrow, Sunday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to rid the west facing slope of weeds, blackberry, ivy and Scotch broom.
Please come help us scour our slope. We have many beautiful plants growing there, but some bad ones threaten the good ones and this is the perfect time of the year to tip the balance in favor of our bird and butterfly habitat.
Protective clothing and grippy soles will be appropriate for the day. Bring weeding tools if you like. Tarps and reusable bags would be helpful too, to move the weeds down to the street.
Coffee and some snacks will be provided but snack donations are always welcome even if you can’t work. Please RSVP to info@FremontPeakPark.org so they know how many volunteers to prepare for and expect.
