The Moisture Festival has received financial support for 2010 through Seattle’s Neighborhood and Community Arts program.  The comedy/variete festival was one of 40 cultural events in the city that each received $1,200.

“Festivals and events color the character of Seattle’s neighborhoods. The arts build community, and these investments help fuel the transformative power and positive influence of the arts in our city,” said Michael Killoren, director of the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.  Criteria to apply for the annual support is that groups have to be at least a year old and produce recurring events that promote arts and culture for the public.

The Moisture Festival, which began in 2004, is an assortment of music, theater and other intriguing talents and occurs every spring to celebrate the season.  Set as a variety show in the spirit of vaudeville, performers have included aerialists, acrobats, comedians and can can girls.  This year’s event begins March 11 and runs through April 4 at Hale’s Palladium, in the Hale’s Brewery warehouse.  Schedule and details have not yet been set.
