Lucca Statuary closing January 31

By Heidi · December 3rd, 2009 · Comments

Another business is leaving Fremont after the new year.  Lucca Statuary (3623 Leary Way NW) will be closing its doors on January 31.

Lucca Statuary

The haven for European garden ornaments has been on Leary Way for about five years and there are no plans to re-open at another location at this time.  As part of their liquidation sale, items are currently 50% off.  Lucca’s production business, Lucca Manufacturing, will remain open for online purchases.  Lucca, great finds in Ballard (5332 Ballard Ave NW) will also stay open.

I just found out today the espresso stand will NOT be staying on! Unless it finds a new home, it's going to go .... :(

C'mon people, anyone who frequents Lucca Espresso, let's see if we can suggest a good empty spot for them to move to!

I visit Lucca espresso nearly every morning and what I have been told is that NOTHING (in terms of staying or going) has been determined. It totally depends on the wishes of whomever leases that property. Until they have a new lessee it is business as usual for them.

I just read this & am SO sad to see them go - Lucca is a wonderful source of beautiful statuary.

So If I lease the property I'm stuck with a coffee shop?

Jeffinfremont : "Unless the feds decide to do something drastic" Huh?!? Because it's the government's responsibility to make sure small businesses succeed? No wonder I seldom read Fremont's forum.

"promote the GENERAL welfare...." Uh, JeffInFremont, buh-bye.

Oh, c'mon people! You missed a perfect opportunity to there mock Jeffinfremont about being a socialist and make some tie in with Lenin. Fail on you for your lack of creative or witty retort!

Because this economic downturn is widespread across the world, it has reach the point where it is completely appropriate for governments to step in to keep a recession from turning into a depression. Now just how they get involved is a completely different discussion. But in support of Jeff's comment about small business - if you listened to the president's speech this morning, he did focus specifically on small businesses and what can be done to help them.

How did all the conservatrolls find this blog, anyways? Are they hunkered down in mom's basement, using search terms like "Lenin" and popping in to decry anything that has to do with government?
  • NoraBell
Dang! I love just walking through that place. You don't get quite the same experience at the Ballard version.

What about the awesome little coffee stand in there - any idea of what they're going to do?
  • They just told me the coffee stand is going to stay. They're looking for another business to lease the rest of the property.

I can only imagine how many other small businesses are going to go under this winter. Brace yourselves, folks. Unless the feds decide to do something drastic, it's going to get bad.

Are the trees half off too?
  • They tell me the Christmas trees are not half off.

I was pretty sure of that before I posted...just making fun.

I'll definitely miss wandering around the trees and statuary at night. It's such a visually interesting combination, especially with a little mist.
  • Good question. I don't think so but I'll find out for sure.
