New bar coming to Fremont

By Geeky Swedes · February 22nd, 2009 · 15 Comments

A new bar called Sinners and Saints is going in on 36th St. near Phinney Ave.

We ran into the owner and he told us the bar’s focus will be tequila, including some high-end varieties. He hopes to open on April 2nd.

Perhaps that same owner as the tequila-focused bar The Saint on Olive/Bellevue on Capitol Hill?

Great, another place for former frat boys to congregate in Fremont!

    for “former” frat boys?

the ballroom, nectar and norm’s are normally full of the real deal thurs-sat nights.

and then they walk up the hills to their cars and drive home drunk. it’s awesome, really.

I’m just hoping it also has BRUNCH, since El Camino took it away from me. *sob*

The old Fremont got bought up by “former frat guys” (Read: people who went to college and don’t sit around pontificating bullshit in coffee houses all day) while you were writing your play that no one will ever see.

Ooooh! Another bar! Just what we need.

How about a new newsstand instead? Or a bookstore-cafe? Something that actually adds some value to the neighborhood?

Hey slag this is America, you are more than free to open up your own newstand, or bookstore-cafe in the neighborhood.

    Dear Neighbors,

As a Fremont resident and co-owner of Sinners & Saints, I would like to extend an invitation to everyone to come down and experience our Grand Opening next week.

From its conception we wanted Sinners & Saints to be an eco-friendly, Fremont-centric wateringhole, serving small Spanish style dishes in a comfortable, almost coffeehouse environment.

My partners and I (not former frat boys) feel that we have built a great neighborhood cocktail bar that WE would chill, eat and drink at. We hope you like it and look forward to serving you sometime.

    Dispel some rumors:

-We are not affiliated with “The Saint” on Capitol Hill. We will however be serving a surprisingly decent selection of tequilas.

-Our target market is not former (or current) fratboys. Our hope is to serve the locals and people working in Fremont.

-We will have a full menu and shortly after we open hope to serve a brunch on the weekends.

Despite what some people want or don't want in Fremont…what we have created is better than the vacant, run down, low income housing that was formerly here.

We understand everybody’s concern regarding a new bar in the neighborhood. We have signed a Good Neighbor Agreement with the City of Seattle and encourage all of our patrons to respect the local residents and their property in Fremont. Again I hope to see some of you for cocktails or tasty morsels sometime in the future.

    Thanks,

    Steve Madriaga
Fremont Resident & Owner Sinners & Saints

ps – at least it’s not another Thai restaurant

I like the idea of another bar in Fremont and look forward to sampling tequila at Sinners & Saints.

Out with the old and in with the new. Seattle is growing up and it's about time.
