Updated 4 p.m. The Fremont Bridge is open again after a head-on accident earlier today closed traffic in both directions.

A white van and SUV collided head-on just before 11 a.m., resulting in one serious injury and sending two others to the hospital. A third car was involved, as well. Medics performed CPR on the most seriously injured patient. The Humane Society was called to take care of a dog in the van.

explains the 30 min. helo noise. the sick children and children’s hospital-hating (expletive) in laurelhurst would have been going crazy from the prolonged doppler effect.

This was a fatal car accident. The woman who was rushed to Harborview with serious injuries was killed. She will leave behind two young boys, her husband and many others who will miss her dearly.

Very sad to hear. If she was a cyclist people would be building a shrine to her, holding a candle light rally. But a car driver? No one cares sadly.
Condolences to the family.

Don’t be silly. We’re all car drivers. That’s why there isn’t that sense of community that you have amongst cyclists who are threatened by cars every day and naturally create that bond. The drivers who were hurt and died are still part of our wider community and we should all give our condolences. Don’t try to make everything about your petty grudges.
I heard rumor, emphasis on rumor, that the accident was caused when one of the drivers suffered a heart attack or aneurism that caused them to lose control of their car.

This is so sad. I was riding my bike across the bridge when they were giving one women CPR. The accident looked really bad and it makes sense that one of the drivers had a heart attack or other health reason for loosing control, because I don’t see how a head on could happen right there otherwise. As far as the “if it were a biker..” comment I don’t see what that has to do with anything. Of course people care….
