Plans to demolish the current Tacos Guaymas and build a residential building on top of a new Tacos Guaymas is moving ahead. Plans call for six units to sit atop the restaurant with parking for 14 cars below-grade.

At an upcoming meeting, the developer will present its plans for the development to the Design Review Board. There will also be an opportunity at this meeting for the public to weigh in on the project. The meeting is Monday, Oct. 13th at 8 p.m. at the Ballard High School Library (1418 NW 65th St.)

The original plan was for Tacos Guaymas to return to the new building. We’re working on getting the sketches of the proposed development.

Should be interesting. Hopefully they are adding parking spaces commensurate with the number of units. Is Guayomas still planning on occupying the street level? Who is behind this development?

I doubt there’s any chance Tacos Guaymas will return unless they can somehow manage a huge rent increase. I’m trying to think of any small business that has successfully returned to their old location after development like this. I’m sure the developers first priority is maintain the sense of community with the new building and is positive that Fremont will grow to love the Taco Bell they put in its place. Tacos is tacos, right?
BTW, I hope I’m wrong.

I think I read somewhere that the property owner here is the owner of the Guaymas chain, and that all 6 units are intended for his extended family. I think that was a previous iteration of the proposal, so it may no longer be true.

I hope Taco Guaymas can stay there! Closest restaurant to me!
Any word on the Fish Market I see opening up a few doors down?
