Daily news for Seattle's Fremont neighborhood

Archie McPhee moving (almost) to Fremont

By Geeky Swedes · September 30th, 2008 · Comments

Ballard’s popular toy and gadget store Archie McPhee is moving to 45th and Stone Way next year, a store spokesperson says. A liquor store currently occupies the site. “We don’t have a solid date yet, (and) it depends on when we can get occupancy and finish painting and such,” Archie McPhee’s David Wahl explains, estimating it will be around the middle of next year. You may remember Archie McPhee’s original home was on Stone Way in Fremont, so the new location will be right down the street. And yes, since McPhee’s is moving to the NE corner of 45th and Stone Way, it’s technically Wallingford, according to the city of Seattle’s official map. But barely. Since it’s right on the border, perhaps we can just say they’re back in Fremont?

  • Not A Number Cards & Gifts is pleased to welcome Archie's back to Wallingford! We are please to see them come back. Yes, it may have an impact on our business, as we carry some of their products. Look for us to diversify, and carry more great stuff that Archie's does not. Don't forget to check out our expanded book section!

P.S. The liquor store does not in any way qualify as being part of Fremont, it's all Wallingford baby!

Where the hell am I going to go to get my scotch now?
  • Sweeeeeeet! :D

I have no use for a toy store. Bring my adult beverages back. Yet another example of Seattle's Liberal Fascism ...

I vote for they're back in Fremont. The map itself says it isn't the "official" neighborhood map. It is right on the border of Wallingford, though. Bummer about the liquor store moving. Maybe they'll take the 40th and Stoneway pit that will someday be something.

But where is the state liquor monopoly store moving? :O
